Kiwa is about to launch a brand new hydrogen appliance test facility, with a supply of hydrogen piped from our closely located steam methane reformer (SMR), which produces gas using methane from a local anaerobic digestion plant. This gas supply is considerably cheaper than bottled hydrogen, giving appliance manufacturers a big cost advantage. It is also odourised, particularly which makes it especially useful for longevity accelerated lifecycle testing, cycles as it is the same gas that appliances will use when installed in homes.
